Current Song on Play: "The Transfiguration" by David Crowder* Band

Just a couple words before the real post: this song, "The Transfiguration" is pretty cool! The sounds come together to make an amazing, beautiful song. The song was originally written by an artist, whom I discovered this past weekend, named Sufjan Stevens for an album "Seven Swans" which had around 12 songs (plus 2 bonuses making out for 14 tracks, which is also 2 times 7), each of which was written with a specific Biblical passage in mind. It's pretty ingenious, especially for someone like Sufjan. David Crowder* Band came with some other artists such as The Gregory Brothers to put together a "Re-imagined" version of "Seven Swans" for a specific cause. It's pretty interesting to listen to. You can find it somewhere on Bandcamp.

But anyway, lets get down to some serious business.

It's been a while since I've posted in the Production Blog. Sorry about that. In the time since my last post, I have updated the comic with 20 pages, 4 of which are [S] pages. I guess I'll start by explaining each of them a bit.

1.) [S] Act VI Begin ==>
I actually put this together around the end of August and beginning of September, when I was planning out a couple of things that I wanted to happen in the comic as soon as possible. Then, it took a while to put together the EoA5 song and Flash, and I had to finish up the Captain Goggles arc. Then, I decided to split EoA5 into two parts with an Author Insert in between. Honestly, I'm sort of glad for the long wait, because I was able to learn my way around Actionscript through my Graphic Design class and apply simple Gotoandplay coding to a previously automatic video. The music credit goes to Aidan "SidewalkBanana" Dare, once again for a song he wrote for the very first album, entitled "Cold Opening/Tarah's Theme".
2.) [S] Grace: Ascend
I'll be honest, this Flash wasn't as good as I intended it to be, but I had to urge the comic along and start writing some non-Flash panels. Basically, Grace is entering the portal, and finds herself overtop of the planet, Eden. What happens next has not been told yet (and probably won't until Act 7). Music goes to some 8-bit battle music Aidan wrote for the first album as well.
3.) [S] Goggles: Pick up the phone
This panel was just simple Actionscript, but I am nonetheless pleased with how well the character sprites turned out! This was the first conversation in the comic that was between two character sprites, and I really enjoyed it, as did some of my friends. The jazzy music comes from Aidan again with his song "Goggle's Theme". Also, did any of you notice the change in Aurora's attire? All of that will be explained more further down the road.
4.) [S] Goggles: Answer call
This turned out to be a lot more than I originally intended. I'll start with music. This Flash uses the songs "Option Menu" and "Goggle's Theme", both by Aidan. It also uses "Frozen Heart" by Milksweet as the Puzzle Music. This Flash was both another conversation between Goggles and (someone different) Miss May, and also a special puzzle. I also liked the new interface on the "main screen", showing the Objective and the "Travel" button. Next to the quest through the Temple of Elyon, this is one of my favorite Interactive Animations.
All in all, these make up for a pretty good assortment of Flash animations!

Storywise, I am now starting up an arc detailing much of Heather Rose's backstory. After that, we will see more straightforward action with Seth and his crew. I'm really interested in diving deeper into Heather's backstory. Right now, I'm very focused on how I can deliver a quality arc, with good, sound storytelling.

Musicwise, I'm planning a new album for release sometime around the end of November. It will contain all of the music from Act 5 to wherever I am at that point. I'm working on putting together the music from a couple artists at the current moment. Some notable songs will be "Cactus Ridge" and "Escaped Lapse", based on events from Act 5. I'm thinking I might put out a small EP of ambient sounds sometime in the next couple of weeks titled "Sounds from Eden", but I don't know if that will happen. Basically, it's subject to change.

Anyway, that's about all for now! This is M-Log signing off!
